Writing and selling PLR content: great income for Web writers

There’s a huge demand for PLR (Private Label Rights) content online, and many Web writers are providing this content as a lucrative sideline to their primary Web writing efforts.

How sure what PLR content entails? Here’s an explanation from Issue 23 of Fab Freelance Writing Ezine:

Private Label Rights content is content to which the purchaser buys most rights, so he can use the content in any way he pleases.  A limit is usually set on the number of copies sold - anywhere from 200 copies upward. PLR content can be articles, ebooks, Web design templates etc.

Selling your own PLR content article packages is fast and profitable. The number of articles in a pack varies, from around ten to 20.  The articles are from 250 to 400 words: they’re SHORT. The topics can be anything at all that people are interested in online: credit cards, the latest diets, or pets.

You write your article packages and sell them online. Many writers charge around $20 per package, and sell a set number of copies, usually around 200 to 500 copies. So, you sell 200 copies of a $20 package of ten 400-word articles (4000 words), the package earns you $4000. A dollar a word is respectable for articles which won’t take long to write.

What PLR means, and why it’s your ticket to BIG money as a writer

The basic idea of PLR content is that it’s content which is sold to people to edit, mash up, or use directly on their Web sites. PLR content may be articles, ebooks, reports, or even audio. There are dozens of Web sites already which sell PLR content to eager buyers. There’s a huge demand for PLR, and as the competition on the Web grows, the demand will only increase.

If you can write ten PLR articles in a week, you can make $4000 a week

Sounds weird, but it’s true. Many writers are already cashing in on PLR, and you can too.

Writing and selling articles and article packs online

Article content isn’t just big online, it’s huge. Everyone needs content, and articles form a major part of the Web content on many sites.

So, since articles are highly prized, you can make money writing and selling articles in dozens of ways online, but in this blog post I’ll cover just one of them: writing articles as niche content, also known as creating Private Label Rights (PLR) article packs.

Writing/ selling articles as niche content

Web publishers create niche Web sites to cash in on advertising and affiliate revenue. You’ll find niche Web sites on just about anything you can think of online, and many things you’d never think of in a thousand years.

Niche sites are profitable when there are advertisers. For example, “ice cream” is a niche. Type “ice cream” without the quotes into Google, and you’ll notice the sponsored links (advertisers) on the right side of the page. This shows you that this niche is profitable.

So you could write one or many articles on the glories of ice cream, and find buyers for your content, because the niche is profitable. Yes, I said BUYERS. You’re selling your articles as niche content, and you can sell your articles to as many people as you please. Some PLR content creators cap the number of copies  of a series of articles they sell at 200, but how many you sell is up to you.

You can see where writing ten articles about ice cream and selling 200 copies of the articles as a PLR pack for $10 per pack adds up.

Bonus tip: if you want to learn about writing articles for the Web, I urge you to study Wikipedia for linking strategies. Linking is at the heart of article writing for the Web, yet most Web writers (and Web site owners) are blissfully unaware of the power of linking.
