Writing for the Web means writing for search engine traffic, and getting that traffic is very competitive.
Most of your clients won’t know much about search engine optimization. You don’t need to know much either. However you do need to know a little about keywords, and also about long tail keywords.
“Long tail” Keywords Keywords which very few people actually type into the search engines. However although those search terms may get only a few queries each month, those queries mount up over the months and years.
So how do you find those long tail keywords?
The first place to start is in your client’s Web site referrer logs.
Make a list of the search terms that you find. You can then begin a campaign of writing articles which target those keywords.
