This post “Writer Warning - GetAFreelancer.com (GAF)” would qualify for my Giggle of the Day award, but considering that many new writers will take this sort of cr*p seriously, it’s not funny.

From the post:

Budget: $30-100
Articles: 20 articles on copywriting
More: “Each article should be between 650-850 words in length and 100% original. All articles will be checked through copyscape and search engines. Copyright in all articles will be passed to me…. I only want to publish writing of magazine quality, filled with facts and useful information. No fluff, filler, rambling opinions or poorly researched content please. Only bid if you are fluent in the English language and can demonstrate proper use of grammar and spelling.”

If you come across demented writing “jobs” like this online, please pass them by. Magazine quality equals magazine rates at around $1 to $2 PER WORD, whatever this delusional poster may think. So, getting out my calculator, 20 x 850 word articles at magazine quality (and thus magazine rates) equals $17,000.

Unfortunately, some writers do fall for this kind of BS, imagining that “20 articles for $100″ is the best they can do… please, read my ebook on creating your own Web site, and charge proper rates. If you don’t, you’ll hate yourself in the morning. :-)

“How much do I charge for writing” appears on my site’s referrer logs many times daily, which shows that new writers are desperate for information. So kudos to SixFigureWriters for this post.
