If you’re looking for freelance writing gigs, Craigslist is a good resource.

I tend to use it to advertise my services, so if you’re just browsing for gigs, trying posting about the writing services you provide as well. (You need a Web site for this.)

Guy Kawasaki’s “How to Get a Job on Craigslist” offers some great advice, not only on getting jobs on Craigslist, but anywhere.

I especially like this tip:

Apply really well. The person who was the most obvious “right candidate” did something that no one else did: He not only chose good pictures, but he also resized them to approximately 140 x 105 pixels. This is the size of the pictures that we use on our site. Thus, he figured out what kind of pictures we liked and what size we used.

If you really want a job, go all out to get it; this immediately puts you way ahead of the applicants who just do the basic stuff.

Vital: follow the directions in the ad. The fastest way to trim down a list of applicants is to delete the ones who don’t follow the directions.

Not familiar with Craigslist? Read The Craigslist Profits Guide - it’s an excellent resource, and it comes with resale rights.

I’ve been sharing my writing gig-getting secrets with my writing students for years, but this nifty way of getting writing gigs and selling products deserves to be more widely known.

Here it is - Craigslist. Craiglist is completely free to use to get writing and editing gigs.

Since Craigslist is so easy to use, there’s not much to the process. However, using Craigslist effectively and getting the most out of it takes some knowhow.

I recently stumbled across the The Craigslist Profits Guide and knew I had to share it with you. It enables you to use Craigslist to its fullest potential. I’ve been using Craigslist for years, and many of the ideas were completely new to me.

It’s 41 pages packed with info, and here’s the best news: you can profit from  this ebook when you sell it to others.

So go ahead - this ebook has to be one of the big bargains of 2007. Without hyping it too much, if you use the tactics described, you can double and triple what you make from your writing this year.
