When you think of a blog, you may consider a blog to be a way of making money by writing small articles and tips about a particular topic, or as a way for a business to gain visibility online. A blog can be much more - it can be a complete online publication.

Blogging is Web publishing, and it can be whatever you want it to be. You can create a blog that’s as information-rich as a magazine, and which is as respected as a magazine.

The difference between a print publication and an online publication is that online, you can publish every day, and all past issues stay online, creating a large site which grows in size and traffic every day.

Starting Your Blog Magazine Is Easy - Start Small, And Grow

If you wanted to start a print magazine, you’d need millions of dollars in funding. In the online world, you need very little startup funding. Depending on your technical skills, you may not need much more than $8 for a domain name, and $100 or so for Web hosting for a year.

You could run your online magazine on WordPress, which functions well as a Content Management System (CMS), or if you wanted more options, you could use a solution like Joomla, which is an extensible CMS. Both WordPress and Joomla are free.

Your blog magazine would contain similar items to a print magazine: news, information, opinions, entertainment, and of course, advertising, so that the publication can pay its own way.
