I love the social network sites - Facebook et al.

But finding the time to do more than zip through them once a month takes more patience and commitment than I have.

If you’re like me, and are wondering: Why bother with social networks? read DazzlinDonna’s “Using Social Profile Pages To Your Advantage”, it contains some great information on how to make these sites work for you:

Depending upon the type of social network you are dealing with, you will likely be working to increase your popularity at the site. Generally speaking, the more active you are, or the more popular your contributions are, the more likely it is that you will be noticed. (Contributions to the site differ, depending upon the type of network, but may include articles, videos, news submissions, etc.)

If you’re a new Web writer, and don’t have a stable of clients, social networking will help you to get known for what you do.

One tip - these networks are “social” above all. Don’t push too hard on the marketing angle, wait for people to contact you and ask about your services.

And speaking of marketing, read my “You CAN Sell Your Writing Now: Marketing Skills For Writers” - discover how to put marketing to work on your own behalf, and that of your clients too.

If you’ve had luck on the social networking sites, share in the Comments.
