A blog is one of the most powerful tools for any business today, but many business owners are unaware of exactly what a blog is, and how it can help their business. You can show them, and get more writing commissions for yourself, by making your clients’ businesses more profitable.

As a Web writer, your goal is to enhance your clients’ business

Think of yourself as an Internet professional rather than “just” a Web writer. Look for opportunities to HELP your clients.

For example, let’s say you’ve been commissioned to write an article package for a client. That’s great, but don’t stop there. Look at your client’s Web site. Check him out for various keywords on the search engines, to see how well he’s ranking.

Brainstorm ideas of additional content to help him to rank higher and to get more traffic to his site - this means more income for the client, and I’ve yet to hear of any client refusing opportunities to make more money. Suggest a blog, if he doesn’t have one, and suggest more content for the blog if he does.

A blog helps any Web site.

A blog gets indexed fast, and can send fast traffic to your client

The Internet search engines love blogs, because the information on a blog is regularly updated. So as a Web writer, you should love blogs too, because they provide more content-writing opportunities.

Get up to speed on blogging with my ebook Blogging For Dollars. When you become a blog expert, you can help your clients by suggesting a blog to them. You help your clients, and you get more writing work too. Benefits all round. :-)
