Blogging: How much money can you make blogging?

Invariably, readers of my Blogging For Dollars ebook ask me: “How MUCH can I make from blogging?”

My answer’s always the same: “As much money as you want to make from this particular source.”

The online world is wide, and it’s totally up to you and your particular business model, because you’re working for yourself. (In this instance I’m talking about blogging on your own blogs, rather than blogging for others.) Do you want to focus on blogging, or developing niche Web sites, or writing and selling ebooks - or a mixture of all of them? It’s completely up to you. You can make a lot of money online, and it’s possible to make that money in many different ways, depending on your own inclinations.

Blogger Yaro Starak has an interesting post “I Made $6549.52 From Blogging in March” which outlines how much blogging he does to make this kind of income. This is reasonable, and achievable by anyone, and he says:

“The reason I disclose my income for last month is because I want to show you that it is possible to blog part time and earn a full time income. If you read my blog regularly you know that while my posts are often lengthy and of high quality, I’m far from the most prolific blogger online.”

Although you’ll make more if you put more effort into it, there’s no need to be as prolific as some bloggers and make four posts a day. The beauty of blogging is that it’s highly individualistic and customizable to your own inclinations. You make the rules, because you’re the boss.
