From Web writer to Web publisher - what does it take?
Wednesday, April 4th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedAs a Web writer, you write for others. However, for a stable long-term income, you need to devote time to writing for yourself - to becoming a Web publisher.
In 2007, creating your own Web sites couldn’t be easier. All the tools you need are freely available, and monetization strategies are easy too. It does take much time or effort to create a Web site which earns you $100 a week, and when you have ten of those sites, you can see that it’s very easy to ditch your day job.
So what does it take to become a Web publisher?
* Ideas - what do people want information on?
* A site-building tool - there are hundreds of Web authoring programs. Start with NVU, which free, and is available across all platforms;
* A domain name - a domain is an Internet address. For example, this site’s domain is fabwebwriter.com. I recommend NameCheap.com - for your domain purchases;
* A Web host which allows you unlimited (or close to it) domains. My current favorite is HostGator.
When you develop your own sites as a Web publisher, you’re developing a great passive income stream. And as a writer, you’re already skilled in the use of the most important too - words.
